Church of Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in Konikowo
The temple was built in mid-14th century but the building you can see today is not the same one. Throughout the years, the church gradually fell into disrepair and eventually ruin, and was rebuilt only in 1852, adding the steeple.
Particularly interesting are the Medieval architectural elements, i.e. the lower section of the steeple and the chancel in the altar section. Another interesting feature characteristic for this meticulously built temple are the ornamental Gothic ceramic tiles with floral motifs combining into a larger image, which you can see below the cornice above the windows. Interestingly, similar elements can be found in the church of Blessed Virgin Mary in Białogard.
The church was built as a Roman Catholic temple, but in the 16th century was taken over by the Protestant community. Only in 1981 through the efforts of Cardinal Ignacy Jeż did the church return to the Catholic parish.
